Yes, You Can

I have a sign on my desk (given to me by the fantastic Sara Connell) that says,

“I Can and I Will.”

I’ve put lots of sayings on my desk, bulletin board, dream boards, laptop screens, and bathroom mirrors over the years to give me a nudge about sentiments I tend to forget or acknowledge. They simply remind me of what’s important. But this one has lasted the longest because it applies to almost anything I desire or aspire to accomplish.

It’s a state of mind and a state of being. It demands accountability. It projects the certainty of success. It flies in the face of the naysayers, critics, or pessimists. Its focus is the future versus the past, or even the present. It isn’t negotiating with me.

My message is short and simple this week but no less powerful. Whatever you’ve been wishing for, aspiring to, or even sick of tolerating, you can have it. It will likely require changing some habits, challenging your limiting beliefs, and upgrading your skills to call in a future of your own creation. But most of all, it will require deciding, deciding that you can and that you will, one way or another. Then, keep claiming it. Keep deciding.

Here are some helpful tips to get you started:

  • Read The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins.
  • Download “3 Leadership Mindset Tools” from LionSpeak.
  • Create a short morning or evening routine that includes meditation, prayer, and time to tune into your greatest vision and highest calling and to connect with all the positive forces at work to help usher in your greatest aspirations.
  • Watch this video because if THEY can, WE certainly can.
  • Post your own “I Can and I Will” statement for your own desk, mirror, or workspace.

I know this for sure:  We can do more than we think we can. We can have more than we think we deserve. We can do harder things than we’ve done before. We can enjoy more success and realize more of our dreams.

The first step is deciding.

“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.”
